We are working on behalf of a midlands based Higher Education institution who are seeking to appoint an Assistant Director IT Projects and Change on a 12 month contract basis.


As Assistant Director you will work closely with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and other IT leaders to shape and deliver transformative projects. You will be the formal single point of oversight and coordination for all major IT-supported change programs, departmental projects, and cross-departmental initiatives.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting and maintaining high standards for project delivery.
  • Identifying issues and areas for improvement within ongoing projects.
  • Promoting and driving good quality project disciplines across the IT function.
  • Supporting staffing needs for successful project execution.
  • Structuring reporting and dashboards to ensure transparency and accountability.


Key Duties:

  • Collaborate closely with the CIO and IT leadership to align projects with the university's Digital Strategy.
  • Assume overall oversight for IT-supported change programs and departmental projects.
  • Take personal responsibility for key projects, intervening as necessary to ensure success.
  • Provide leadership and guidance across projects in different IT disciplines.
  • Address project-related challenges and provide strategic solutions.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration between project teams and stakeholders.


Higher Education experience is not essential however the successful candidate is likely to have gained experience within a comparable complex multi faceted organisation.
