Duration: 6-12 month project

Start: Mid Feb 2024 Start date

Location: Manchester (M3 postcode) onsite 3-4 days per week

Working within IS team the Azure Data Architect will have an organisation wide view of the clients Data, shaping the data architecture that will used by internal and external stakeholders. Azure Data Architect has responsible a responsibility for strategic direction of our data platform and will drive data innovation include our adoption of Cloud data tools.

You will work closely with Data Analysts and Developers in the provisioning, development and support of our strategic data platforms. You will also devise strategic changes to our data estate working closely with Technical Architects, Enterprise Architect, Product Managers, DBA's and Lead Developers.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for data acquisition, warehousing, and data archival.
  • Work closely with IT teams to integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures.
  • Create data governance and security protocols to ensure data integrity and privacy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and fulfil the data needs of the company.
  • Manage the life cycle of the data architecture components from conception through retirement.
  • Optimize data flow and collection for cross-functional teams.

Key skills- technical knowledge and skills

  • Extensive experience with database technologies, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and Datamodelling.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with big data technologies (eg, Hadoop, Spark).
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and understanding of data warehousing solutions.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality management, and data security practices.
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and analytics tools is a plus.
  • Strong practical knowledge of at least one of the following: TOGAF (highly desirable) DoDAF, MODAF, Zachman etc
  • Experience of at least one of the commonly used methods, notations and tools. E
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and technical skills.
