Consultant in Public Health

Consultant in Public health  (qualified) must be registered (GMC, GDC or UKPHR) and be up to date with CPD requirements. MFPH by examination, by exemption or by assessment is also a must.

We are seeking an experienced consultant to lead across a range of activities dependent on the  need.

Initially, this will be focused on the recommissioning and mobilisation of sexual health services, NHS Health checks, stop smoking services and the wider tobacco control agenda as well as ensuring that the DPH s responsibilities relating to health protection are met.

Line management (directly and indirectly) of a number of staff from senior public health practitioner to public health officer will be required.

The ability to develop good relationships with wider system partners and operate at a strategic level to ensure public health principles are embedded would be an essential skill. Justification for requirement:

This is a post for a qualified consultant in public health; Work with the commissioning and procurement team to ensure the successful mobilisation of a new sexual health service; develop and deliver the a model for NHS Health checks to maximise take up and reduce inequalities; refresh and develop the Newcastle Tobacco Control Plan including stop smoking services taking into account the aspirations in the Newcastle ICB Place Plan; develop and implement ingoing plans for the health protection assurance function.
