Job Title: Contract Data Scientist
Location: London/ Hybrid, United Kingdom
Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension)
Day Rate: up to 600 day outside IR35

As we continue to evolve in a data-driven landscape, we are seeking a skilled Contract Data Scientist to join our dynamic team for a substantial data transformation programme.
We are looking for a talented and experienced Data Scientist to support our data-driven initiatives and contribute to the development of advanced analytics solutions. As a Data Scientist, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to extract insights from large datasets, build predictive models, and drive data-driven decision-making across the organisation. You should also have a passion for GenAI and ideally have exposure to LLMs.
Responsibilities:
Model Development:
- Design, develop, and implement predictive models to support business objectives.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into actionable insights.
Machine Learning:
- Apply machine learning techniques to solve complex business problems and improve decision-making processes.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data science and machine learning including GenAI and LLMs.
Data Analysis:
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in large datasets.
- Clean and preprocess data to ensure its accuracy, completeness, and relevance.
Data Visualization:
- Create visualizations and dashboards to communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ensure effective communication of insights and recommendations derived from data analysis.
Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including IT, business analysts, and underwriters, to integrate data science solutions into business processes.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Data Scientist in the insurance or financial services industry.
- Strong proficiency in Python/R and relevant data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn).
- Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms and statistical modeling.
- Experience with big data technologies and tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.).
