p>We are currently working in partnership with a Local Council based in Hampshire, who are looking to appoint a Contracts & Procurement Lawyer on a 6-month Contract.

This will be a Full time position with hybrid working (some office attendance required) and the rate is c. 50 per hour

The ideal candidate will have 5 years PQE in Contracts & Procurement in a Local Government setting, with, however there can be flexibility for the right candidate

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on standard and bespoke forms of contract in compliance with the Council's Contract Procedure Rules and the EU procurement regime
  • Providing Legal advice and assistance on all levels of tender and procurement from initial procurement and OJEU notices, as well as providing advice on the management of risks, Judicial review and High Court challenges
  • Undertaking complex and high value contract related cases as well as projects of major or corporate significance for the team
  • Developing policy, capacity and business practices within the team and legal services to improve performance and outcomes for the Council and its partners
  • Providing commercial advice and support as appropriate on casework within the team which is of particular significance to client departments.

Experience required:

  • Experience required in a Local Government setting
  • Experience working in Contracts & Procurement

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Ability to draft documents and communicate effectively via letters and e-mails
  • Ability to provide clear advice and summary of Legal documentation
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week
