The role:Working as part of the finance team the role plays a key role in the discharge of the Directors Section 151 responsibilities including ensuring statutory and regulatory reporting and compliance by monitoring the performance of budget holders in carrying out their financial management duties and compiling monthly performance reports.Key Duties:- Providing productive challenge, assurance, and recommendations to senior leaders in Bury Metropolitan Council executive and Assistant Directors.- Ensuring the completeness and quality of financial management in own directorate and lead on cross organisational strategic activity.- Provision of business modelling, analysis of financial risk and dynamic financial management information in support of Service Directors and underpin strong financial performance.- providing strategic and financial decision support to budget holders in managing their income and expenditure, medium term financial plans and financial governance across directorates.- Ensuring that all change initiatives are provided with financial modelling support, while also representing the financial impact to the wider organisation.- Playing a wider part in the leadership within Finance, supporting the Section 151, ensuring good financial management and contributing to the successful delivery of services to customers, residents and businessesExperiences required:- Knowledge of DSG (Dedicated Schools Grant)- Accounting qualification - CCAB membership- Experience of managing at a senior level in a large, complex organisation in line with the areas of functional responsibility.- To have experience of recruitment and selection of team members in accordance with relevant policies and legislation- To delivered complex financial information to both non-finance and finance staff.- Works well with elected members, executive directors, and senior external staff.
