Interim Accountant job in Wellington, Somerset

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Accountant for a fast paced business in Wellington, Somerset on an interim basis whilst the business recruits permanently. (3 to 6 months)

You will play a crucial role in the preparation and management of financial accounts, ensuring adherence to corporate deadlines and compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The successful candidate will be responsible for various financial aspects, including statutory accounts, external audits, tax returns, and cash-flow forecasting.



Key Responsibilities:

* Compile and analyse financial data to prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
* Upload relevant information to corporate systems.
* Act as a liaison with the Corporate Champion to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
* Review reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
* Prepare statutory accounts in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
* Serve as the primary contact with external auditors, facilitating the audit process and addressing queries.
* Manage all technical accounting issues for the group, providing expert advice on the treatment of commercial, treasury, and tax-related items.
* Conduct technical assessments of transactions in collaboration with corporate departments and external bodies.
* Work closely with external tax accountants and corporate departments.
* Complete annual corporation tax return and R&D Tax claim.
* Complete quarterly group VAT return and Intrastat Returns.
* Treasury and Cash-Flow Management
* Produce short- to midterm cash-flow forecasts.
* ERP Champion - Training and Process Improvement





Qualifications and Experience:

* Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
* Proven experience in financial accounting and management reporting.
* Strong knowledge of IFRS.
* Previous experience in liaising with external auditors and tax accountants.
* Proficiency in ERP systems.
