The client have been awarded the contract to manage and operate Skynet, the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) military satellite communications system. This six-year contract, which has an initial value of more than £400 million, forms part of the MODs £6 billion Skynet 6 programme and will enable to sustain more than 400 jobs in the south-west of the UK.

Skynet Service Delivery Wrap (SDW) will encompass the operation of the UKs constellation of military satellites and ground stations, including the integration of terminals into the MOD network, ensuring they are integrated and supported.

Skynet has been in service since the 1960s – with the first satellite of the sixth Skynet generation satellite, Skynet 6A, set to be launched in 2025. The contract includes the services necessary to support the current Skynet infrastructure, as well as the successful transition and continuous delivery of service for future Skynet operations.

Role description / task:
• Review and delivery into service of VoIP and WiFi end to end service
• 2nd and 3rd line support
• Testing & Integration of the solution
• Contributing to Continuous Service Improvement, development roadmap and KPI reporting
• Be part of multi-discipline project team
• Proactive in your approach, youll have excellent leadership skills combined with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment with new and exciting challenges each day.

Required Experience /Qualification /Attributes:

Experience/Qualifications/Attributes:
• University degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related discipline
• Experience managing Wi-Fi access point & controller infrastructure
• Experience using Aruba ClearPass (or equivalent)
• Demonstratable experience developing and supporting VoIP solutions
• Collaborative individual.
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to champion high performance and inspire others.
• Must be a sole UK National and willing to undergo security clearance

Desirable skills and experience
• Experience supporting IT equipment network management tools, Fortigate Firewalls, LAN/WAN, BMC Remedy, ITSM
• Demonstratable experience in the defence or telecommunication industry, ideally MILSATCOM but not essential.
• Understanding of change and configuration control process, and service reporting
