Venn Group s specialist legal team are currently working with an established Local Authority in the West Midlands who are recruiting for a Locum Principal Criminal Litigation Legal Assistant to join their department.

Position: Locum Principal Criminal Litigation Legal Assistant

Organisation: West Midlands based Local Authority

Duration: 6 months initial contract with the likelihood of extension thereafter

Working Pattern: Full time

Working Arrangement: Predominantly remote working court attendance required on occasion

Hourly Rate: up to 18 per hour Umbrella

This is a brilliant opportunity for a Principal Legal Assistant to become part of a forward thinking, proactive Local Authority.  The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within Local Government specialising in Criminal Litigation Law.

Duties may include:

• Attend client conferences/conferences with Counsel
• Draft letters, formal documents and defence statements
• Consider voluminous disclosure and preparing detailed disclosure requests
• Have a working knowledge of the Criminal Procedure Rules
• Prepare Instructions & Briefs to Counsel
• Prepare trial bundles
