Job accountabilities and responsibilities:



  • You will test complex digital services as part of a multi disciplinary team, working to user needs, service design expectations and agreed priorities



  • You will appropriately test security, compatibility, accessibility, performance, capacity, recovery, and other non functional design elements of our services, protecting our customer data and ensuring we deliver high quality services to our customers



  • You will define and execute functional and non functional test plans that help your team understand the quality of delivery of our services and work with them to ensure that the services we provide meet our customers expectations



  • You will apply your problem solving skills both to the resolution of issues with the services you support, and to continuously improve on the working practices within your team



  • You will contribute to our testing standards, tools, and best practices, adopting the automation techniques and the sustainable, efficient, and re usable test approaches across the community of practice



  • You will mentor and coach more junior colleagues within your multi disciplinary team, leading by example and helping them in their work.



  • In keeping with values and as a member of technical staff within Digital you will embody our spirit of collaboration and support colleagues by undertaking other reasonable duties when required to ensure we provide excellent services to our customers


Key skills and knowledge:



  • Functional testing. You know about functional testing techniques. You can execute test scenarios and identify defects, raising awareness of them. You know how to run tests others have written and know the processes to do so. You understand a range of standard testing techniques.



  • Non functional testing. You know about non functional testing techniques. You can execute nonfunctional test scenarios and identify defects. You can run non functional tests that you and others have written and know the processes to do so. You understand a range of standard nonfunctional testing techniques.



  • Technical breadth. You know about a range of tools and techniques for test automation from your experience of writing test automation.



  • Test analysis. You can identify patterns and trends. You know how to investigate problems and opportunities in existing processes and can contribute to recommending solutions to these. You know how to work with stakeholders to identify objectives and potential benefits.


Key experience



  • Experience of working with technical delivery within a multi disciplinary agile team, including Definition of Done and the use of well formed acceptance criteria



  • Experience of testing browser and device compatibility, and the accessibility of digital services



  • Experience in Object Oriented Programming concepts in at least one programming language such as C# or Java and preferably experience of Selenium



  • Awareness of testing secure digital services and APIs to OWASP standards using tools such as Zap or Burp Suite


Desirable experience, education & qualifications



  • Experience of testing the performance of digital services



  • Experience of testing APIs, and the exchange of data between services using tools such as SoapUI or Postman



  • Experience creating and analysing data, including the use of SQL tools and code for Oracle or SQL Server



  • Degree in a computing related subject or equivalent experience



  • Professional certifications in software testing (ISTQB, ISEB), cyber and security testing, or Agile practices
