Job Title: Mechanical Designer
Location: North West England, Lancashire, Burnley
Job Type: Contract
Salary: 40.00 - 45.00 Per hour
Job Duties:

  • Design and develop mechanical systems, components, and equipment based on project requirements and specifications.
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D models, drawings, and schematics using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and project managers, to ensure design feasibility and functionality.
  • Perform calculations and simulations to analyse product performance, structural integrity, and mechanical behaviour.
  • Conduct research to stay updated on emerging technologies, materials, and design trends in the field of mechanical engineering.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations for design improvements, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancement.
  • Assist in the selection of appropriate materials, components, and suppliers for mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and quality control procedures.
  • Support the manufacturing and assembly process by providing technical guidance and resolving design-related issues.
  • Document design specifications, technical reports, and project progress updates accurately and comprehensively.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer or in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design principles, practises, and techniques.
  • Proficiency in using CAD software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional certification in mechanical design.
  • Experience in the scientific or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software.
  • Experience with design optimisation and cost reduction strategies.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a contract position, with the expected working hours to be determined.
  • The work will primarily be conducted in an office or design studio environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required to visit client sites or manufacturing facilities.
  • Strict adherence to health and safety guidelines is necessary.
