Contract term : Fixed term up to 1 year to cover maternity leave

Pay rate 17.24 to 20.76 per hour (DOE)

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Contract Negotiation and Management

  • Responsible for the development, implementation and promotion of a robust contract management framework which is aligned to and underpins the Trust Strategic Direction.

Responsible for the proactive management of an allocated portfolio of Trust contracts to ensure organisational contract compliance. This will include the provision of advice on the. - contract terms, incentives and penalties to ensure they are utilised effectively.

  • Lead and coordinate the Trusts annual contract negotiation process with its commissioners for their allocated portfolio.
  • Review and re-negotiation of contracts with commissioners, to ensure thorough preparation and attendance at meetings to ensure a contract presence.

Ensure Service delivery or contract compliance issues are escalated quickly.

Review and provide specialist contractual support to the Care Groups which will include updating documentation as necessary.

Coordinate responses and produce documentation in the event of any relevant consultations or contractual disputes.

  • Will be responsible for updating documentation as necessary, in particular regard to ensuring that service specifications contained within contracts are clear, deliverable, reflect capacity and demand within services and are up to date.

Where the Trust is commissioning services from elsewhere, the postholder will lead on drafting, agreeing and implementing sub-contracts with providers to ensure contractual robustness and subsequently monitor the provider s compliance with the terms of the contract.

Will work closely with the Finance Team to ensure contract costings are correct and cover the entire costs to the Trust of providing the service.

Will produce and present written and verbal reports on contractual performance and present these reports to various forums as required.

  • Responsible for maintaining up to date knowledge of the NHS contract Management process.
  • Will provide quality, comprehensive and professional contract management advice, and support to the Trust. This includes working with managers and clinicians at all levels throughout the Trust.
  • Will represent the Contracts, Performance as required at both internal and external meetings this may include deputising for the Head of Contracts, Performance

Will demonstrate an increased use of agile working within Care Groups areas. This should ensure visibility, promote an awareness of your role and contractual requirements, support accessibility, support the building of robust relationships and aid in the requirements of this role.

People management, training, and development

  • May be responsible for the management of members of the contracts team as indicated in the organisational structure for the portfolio for which they are responsible.
  • Responsible for the line management of direct reports, including setting objectives and undertaking appraisals, managing conduct, performance and managing health and sickness issues as and when they arise. This includes ensuring they maintain their continuous professional development and are developed to maximise their performance in their roles.
  • Ensure that staff receive appropriate training and on-going development to enable them to fulfil their roles competently and safely.
  • Responsible for ensuring the maintenance of systems to monitor and ensure that all staff are attending mandatory training as appropriate.
  • Responsible for influencing individuals and groups of clinical and non-clinical managers by facilitating discussions and presenting on complex, sensitive and often contentious information with a view to overcoming through negotiation, persuasion and reassurance significant barriers to acceptance and understanding.
  • Provide specialist support and development to increase the ability of individuals and teams on the contractual requirements across the Trust. This also includes the provision of training both formally and informally to staff across the organisation to increase their knowledge and awareness of the contract management agenda.

Previous NHS experience with Standard Contract Management & Negotiation

Educated to degree level
