Stirling Dynamics is recruiting an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Hydro-mechanical Design capability team on a contract basis.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be supporting the design and development of innovative landing gear technical solutions for applications within the aerospace & Urban Air Mobility sectors. They will be required to work closely with System, Stress, Performance & Simulation Engineers within a multidisciplinary project team to ensure the delivery of projects to the agreed technical requirements, timescales and budget. They will be involved in initial concept generation, feasibility & trade studies and detailed design.
This role will be based in our Bristol office however as part of our commitment to flexible working, the successful candidate will be able to work remotely for part of the time. The hourly rate is negotiable and will be based on experience, seniority, etc.
The contract is inside IR35.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Providing conceptual and detailed designs to satisfy project requirements
- Preparing design support documentation, conducting design calculations and maintaining concise engineering records
- Production of drawing packs in line with configuration management processes
- Producing Mechanical Designs and Drawings
- Conducting engineering investigations for existing product improvements
- Conducting research and collating data as required for trade studies
- Compiling engineering memos & technical reports
- Conducting engineering change management activities on existing designs
- Ensuring adherence to best practice technical standards, including those issued via the Company's Quality Management System, classifications and statutory bodie
- Degree (or equivalent) in Aerospace, Mechanical or Design Engineering
