p>Senior Systems Engineer VMware/VDI sought by asset management firm based in London - Contract
The team is responsible for the design, execution and excellence of our virtualization delivery system, which includes;
- Reliability of VDI Access
- Stability of VDI Performance
- Proactively addressing problems in VDI environment
- Increase user satisfaction with VDI Platform
- Introduce new features and enhancements to user experience on the VDI platform
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the Virtual Desktop, Remote Connectivity and Application Virtualization platforms (VDI Platform)
- Build and update virtual images
- Identify and implement optimization and enhancements
- Manage and maintain the monitoring platforms
- Identify persistent problems and work with wider teams to resolve.
- VDI Platform support
- Provide support to our Desktop Support
- Provide training and guidance on best practices to our support community.
- Create and maintain time-saving automation jobs for our support teams
- Aid in the migration of high-profile business partners to the VDI platform
- Ensure all issues are logged appropriately and escalated as necessary using the Incident and Problem management process.
- Communicate clearly with stakeholders to ensure they are kept up to date this progress on open issues, and follow-up on all open and pending issues.
- Escalate issues to the wider support teams, vendors and team leads as necessary.
- Ensure controls and policies are always adhered to.
QUALIFICATIONS & Experience
- At least 4 years of Experience in Desktop Administration
- At least 4 years of Experience in VMware technologies such as VSphere, ESXi ,NSXt
- At least 2 years of Experience in F5/Citrix or other equivalent load balancing technologies
- At least 2 years of Experience in VMware Horizon View
- Exposure to Cloud based technologies such as Azure and AWS
- Experience with Application Virtualization in a VDI environment
- Understand infrastructure security best-practices such as zero-trust, least-access, MFA, etc.
- Comprehensive practice in implementing and troubleshooting using the OSI networking model
- Familiarity/Experience with Roaming User Profiles
- Familiarity/Experience with Load Balancing technologies such as F5 or NetScaler
- Experience in utilizing and maintaining monitoring environments such as VRops, Nextthink, ControlUp, Splunk, etc.
- Expert level familiarity with related VDI skills including AD, LAN, WAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP and other network terminologies
- Driven to learn new products and technologies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability of end-to-end problem management and ownership
- Ability to create and manage work instructions, system and project documentation
- Collaborative, self-starter with the ability to manage multiple, changing priorities in a fast-paced and global oriented team
- Scripting or basic programming knowledge (PowerShell, Python) desirable
