Job Description: Methods is seeking a Build & Deployment Engineer to facilitate the transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11 across end-user devices in the UK. The role involves deploying the new OS, providing support for Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 Apps, and troubleshooting issues related to the deployment. The position requires travel to various business sites and collaboration with the End User Support Team. Candidates must possess Security Clearance and be adaptable to changing demands during the deployment process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy Windows 11 OS to end-user devices using in-place upgrades and bare metal builds.
  • Provide end-user support via telephone, email, on-site, and self-service for Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 Apps.
  • Perform machine builds and hardware/software installations for EUC devices and peripherals.
  • Migrate user profile data and settings from old to new devices.
  • Assist the Windows 11 programme team with device deployment for new starters and existing users.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues reported to the Service Desk related to Windows 11 deployment.
  • Support local and regional site teams with deployments across business areas.
  • Collaborate with the EndPoint packaging team for application discovery, testing, and deployment.
  • Maintain and oversee installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of end-user workstations and peripherals.
  • Manage support desk tickets ensuring timely resolution in accordance with SLAs.

Skills Required:

  • Technical experience in supporting Microsoft Windows 11 Enterprise OS and Microsoft 365 Apps.
  • Experience with enterprise image management/packaging tools such as SCCM.
  • Active Directory administrative tasks, printer/print server management, and user account creation.
  • Experience deploying Windows to an install base of over 5000 devices.
  • Proficiency in incident management/helpdesk tools (e.g., SNOW).
  • Self-starter with adaptability to cope with demand surges and last-minute changes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with end users and support teams.
  • Ability to interpret and explain complex IT issues clearly to staff at all levels.

Methods are looking for a Build & Deployment Engineer to deploy a new Windows 11 OS to end user device estates across the UK. CONTRACT OUTSIDE IR35 4 MONTHS IMMEDIATE START

The Windows 11 Build and Deployment Engineer will be part of a programme to enable our client to smoothly transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Working within the End User Support Team, they will use a mixture of In-place upgrades and Bare Metal builds to accomplish this deployment.

The post holder will be required to provide effective end-user telephone, email, on site, and self-service support for specifically Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 Apps, off-the-shelf & bespoke applications, remote connectivity/VPN platforms and local/network printer support. There will also be a need to travel around the UK to several key business sites.

The role requires the ability to:

  • Perform machine builds and hardware/software installation for deployment of EUC devices and peripherals
  • Eork closely with end users to migrate their profile data and key settings from old to new
  • Providing support to the Windows 11 programme team with device deployment for new starters, break/fix and existing users.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues reported to the Service Desk relating to the Windows 11 Deployment
  • Assisting local and regional site teams across the UK with deployments to all business areas
  • Working closely with the EndPoint packaging team to assist in discovery, testing and deployment of applications that have issues.
  • Maintain and oversee installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of end user workstations, hardware, software and peripheral devices, as well as manage tickets logged at the support desk, ensuring timely resolution in accordance with the agreed SLA's.

  • Use of an enterprise image management/packaging tool such as SCCM or similar.
  • Windows 10/11 Active Directory administrative tasks, printer/print server management, mailbox & user account creation etc.
  • Experience of deploying/supporting a Windows deployment to an install base of over 5000 devices
  • Use of incident management/helpdesk tools (ie SNOW) to log and update calls related to deployment

Non-Technical

  • Must be a self-starter and adaptable/flexible with ability to cope with surges in demand or last minute changes in deployment
  • Must be able to prioritise own work effectively and be able to work closely with others in deployment team
  • Strong interpersonal skills in relation to end users and other infrastructure and application support teams.
  • Ability to both interpret and explain complex IT issues and communicate these in a clear way to staff at all levels of the organisation.
