This is an exciting opportunity to join Manchester's specialist team that look after Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). We are looking for child focussed, passionate individuals who have a keen interest in working with UASC, ideally you will have some experience working with migrant families. Within this role you will case manage.
The New Arrivals Social Work Team and will take responsibility for the planning and support for young people from the date of arrival up until they they turn 18 years, with all aspects of their care and statutory responsibilities.
The role holder is expected to embrace and adopt the 'Our Manchester' behaviours whilst delivering high quality support for service users, managing existing and future risks through assessment, and creating plans which ensure the individual needs of service users are appropriately considered.
The role holder will help service users engage with support services provided by statutory and voluntary agencies, ensuring that the client is appropriately supported and thus able to contribute actively to the community.
The role holder will provide advice and expertise to partner agencies and stakeholders to promote the service and represent the rights and needs of the vulnerable residents of Manchester.

Key Role Accountabilities
- You will manage a case load of children between the ages of 16 to 18 years including post 18 plans.
- You will work with the multi-agency team around the child or young people.
- You will contribute/be part of our journey to Good to Outstanding journey to continue to improve quality of practice and compliance across the services for our children and young people.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with service users to support them prepare for adulthood working proactively with appropriate stakeholders to assess the individual's needs and ensure young people have positive outcomes.
- Provide support and advice to service users which provides the opportunity to engage with appropriate local and national organised and community-based services.
- Work with colleagues and stakeholders to produce effective plans of support/intervention that respond to service users individual needs, identify, and reduce their vulnerability to risk situations.
- Promote the service strategies across the organisation and to other statutory and voluntary agencies.
- To actively work with partner agencies and stakeholders by contributing and participating in new initiatives to support independence and opportunities for vulnerable residents of Manchester.
- Ensure all records, processes and systems are up to date and maintained to assist with data collection and performance management.

Essential Requirements
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 2 years experience as a social worker within childrens services
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
