Job Description: The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQA Engineer) role is based in Peterlee, Co. Durham, focusing on supplier quality assurance within a global automotive manufacturing company. The position involves supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and collaborating with suppliers to ensure quality standards are met. The role requires on-site work with suppliers and entails a proactive approach to quality management using APQP and PPAP methodologies. This is a site-based position with no hybrid working options, requiring five days a week in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support NPI projects and work closely with suppliers to ensure procurement and supplier quality using APQP and PPAP.
  • Conduct proactive work with suppliers up to APQP and PPAP submission points.
  • Check suppliers at each gateway using quality product planning tools.
  • Confirm live data of product quality and quantity on-site with suppliers.
  • Cross-reference PPAP systems and confirm output process measurement criteria.
  • Collaborate on new part introduction and ensure APQP conformance.
  • Develop, analyze, and document cost information for new product development and engineering changes.
  • Manage supplier activity in coordination with Purchasing and other engineers.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to achieve cost opportunity objectives.
  • Assess suppliers for QCLDM and drive implementation of Lean and APQP processes.
  • Utilize Supplier Issue Investigation tools for problem resolution.

Skills Required:

  • Experience with suppliers, PPAP, and APQP processes.
  • Manufacturing background in castings, precision machining, fabrication, fasteners, and fixings.
  • Development of supplier metrics and problem resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in Supplier Issue Investigation tools such as Root Cause Analysis, PFMEA, 5 WHYS, FISHBONE/6M, ECA/ICA/PCA (STOP/FIX).
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
