Harvey Nash s public sector client are currently looking to recruit a UX designer to join their team based in Edinburgh for an initial 6 month period.

Assignment Description

The organisation is looking for a UX designer to join the team to work alongside business analysts and subject matter experts to understand need, and design application enhancements and associated processes around delivery of that need. The successful candidate will work closely with the Product Owner, Business Analysts, Subject Matter Experts, and the delivery team.

Essential Skills:

  • Expert design acumen demonstrated through owning service/product design end-to-end
  • Proven understanding of collaborative, user-centred design methods
  • Skills and tooling knowledge to bring application designs to life, from sketches to wireframes and storyboards to high fidelity mock-ups and click-through prototypes
  • Ability to create high quality UX deliverables which deliver on service/product outcomes, including:
  • Creating user interface designs and interactive prototypes
  • Developing wireframes and functional specifications
  • Designing information architecture
  • Assisting developing personas, scenarios and user experience maps
  • Designing & running workshops and co-creation sessions
  • Designing content to guide users easily through the processes
  • Ability to carry out independent user research, and make use of quantitative data
  • Ability to use insights to inform and improve your designs
  • Strong focus on usability & accessibility to ensure the end service/product meets the end users needs
  • Good working knowledge of Agile methodologies
  • Proven ability to work cross-team and synthesize feedback and input from business leaders, product management, and engineering (working directly with developers for implementation of designs)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills including the ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
  • Reviewing existing systems and processes to identify UX issues and develop UX recommendations

Desirable Skills:

  • Awareness of, Digital First Service Standards, Government Digital Services (GDS) and the Scottish Approach to Service Design
